Reigate Baptist Church

This church has been built to not only serve the needs of the Reigate Baptist Church but also to serve the community. With this in mind, careful planning was carried out to achieve a satisfactory solution to accommodate these varied uses.

The site was a gently sloping site and to produce a more or less level site, a considerable amount of cut and fill was required. The basic structure is one of steel framed construction with a pre-stressed concrete floor for the first floor where the two storey section exists. The basic concept therefore involved a main hall used for worship and conferences; a small hall for smaller meetings together with school rooms, a large crèche and a large youth room. There is also a suite of offices to accommodate the Church’s needs. The first floor is not only serviced by two staircases but also by a lift for the benefit of the disabled.

One of the main aims has been to achieve as low a maintenance building as possible and the main worship hall is therefore constructed using faced brickwork with all of the windows being powder coated aluminium which require low maintenance. To ensure a uniform heat is provided throughout, an under floor heating system was adopted. Also to ensure a pleasant environment is achieved in the main hall, a mechanical ventilation system was included.

St Marys Church Centre

St Mary's new Church Centre is being built on land designated as Urban Open Land and a Conservation Area, in the vicinity of a number of listed buildings.

The new Church Centre replaces an existing Centre which did little to enhance the character of the conservation area. It is designed to provide an enhanced community facility that benefits the Church and wider community in terms of the facilities available as well as visually enhancing the area.

The Centre provides office accommodation for the team of Church staff as well as improved hall and meeting room facilities, including supporting areas such as kitchen facilities, storage areas, toilets and plant room for the Church and wider community.
